Yare celebrated 275 years of worship to the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar

The relic of the Blessed Mother Mary of Saint Joseph will be on display for the public until Sunday

More than 10 thousand people and at least 2 thousand pledgers of Jesús Sacramentado witnessed the arrival of the relic, in its first class of the Blessed Mother María de San José, to the San Francisco de Yare parish, Simón Bolívar municipality of Miranda state , this Thursday of Corpus Christi.

The action represents an unprecedented event for the Tuya population, since the 275 years of the Yare Dancing Devils were celebrated in the town. With the arrival of the relic of Mother Mary of San José there are 20 relics in the San Francisco de Paula Diocesan Eucharistic Sanctuary in Yare.

The celebration began at 7 am in the municipal cemetery, where the brothers paid honor to the deceased promises. Then they danced to the entrance of the town to receive the heart particle from the first Venezuelan Blessed.

To the rhythm of the traditional drum snare, the devotees guided the relic to the doors of the Sanctuary, in the central part of Yare, to listen to the homily given by Freddy Fuenmayor Suárez, bishop of the Diocese of Los Teques; and Monsignor Raúl Bacallao Valdés, Vicar General of the Diocese of Los Teques. They were accompanied by the rector of the Sanctuary, Jhonfer Camacho; 10 priests, seminarians and lay people.

Fuenmayor, in his sermon, highlighted the life and passion of Christ. “His blood shed from him announces the resurrection (…) we celebrate this Eucharist in a special way as a banquet of communion.”

He cited that the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, as this celebration is also known, has its origin in a miracle that occurred in the 13th century.

During the mass, Fuenmayor swore in 16 new promises. He described this day of Corpus Christi as a special day “because of the personal presence of the Lord who sanctifies us. May Mother Mary of Saint Joseph intercede for us in this proclamation.”

Plaque awarded to Foreman

During the homily, church representatives presented a plaque to the first Foreman of the Brotherhood of the Dancing Devils of Yare, Pablo Rubén Azuaje, for his four decades as head of the dance.

The brothers danced for 48 altars

Pablo Azuaje, first Foreman of the Yarense diablada, expressed his gratitude and joy upon receiving the relic of the first Venezuelan Blessed, from Maracay (Aragua).

“That little piece of heart of Mother María de San José, for us Yarenses it is an honor and pride to receive it here at our Brotherhood headquarters, in our church and our town. God allow them to send us a little more relics of other virgins so that we also have them in our Sanctuary,” he stated.

In relation to his four decades at the forefront of religious and cultural manifestation, Azuaje recalled the evolution of clothing from the 40s to the present. This Corpus Christi, the senior hierarchy of the Brotherhood danced in an ancestral costume.

“As the advances are in 1983, when Miguel González (former Foreman) handed me over, I was a little afraid; But look, I've already overcome it, thanks to God, and I continue to ask him for the necessary strength so that I can continue launching him into honors and glory; and guiding the brothers of this land of Yare, the heart of the Tuy Valleys,” emphasized Azuaje, who turns 67 by paying a promise to Jesús Sacramentado.

More than 10 thousand tourists

Saúl Rafael Yánez, mayor of the Simón Bolívar municipality and promisee of the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar, said that more than 10 thousand tourists have been received in the town between Wednesday and Thursday of Corpus Christi.

He highlighted the population's Catholic belief in Christ and the Virgin Mary. “With the arrival of the relic we further strengthen our faith in God.”

The relic of the Blessed Mother Mary of Saint Joseph will be on display for the public until Sunday, at the San Francisco de Paula Diocesan Eucharistic Sanctuary in Yare.
