An environmentalist Achilles Nazoa revives after 28 years

The four functions will serve to recycle waste

Achilles, the last minstrel is the title of the production that the Youth Company of the Anna Julia Rojas Theater Laboratory will premiere next Saturday in the Experimental Room of the Alberto de Paz y Mateos Theater, located on Andrés Bello Avenue.

With a total of four performances, Saturdays and Sundays, June 1, 2, 8 and 9, starting at 4:00 in the afternoon, the twelve young people between 14 and 18 years old who make up the company, under the direction of Rafael Gil and the dramaturgy of veteran actor and director Luigi Sciamanna (Reverón by Diego Rísquez and Sucre by Alidha Ávila), pay tribute to the Nightingale of Catuche by recreating some of his most beautiful texts: Beautiful poetry to recite to daddy on Memorial Day Father, The Martyrdoms of Nero..., Cinderella within everyone's reach, Creed, The Scarecrow, among others.

This new version responds to a task pending for 28 years, when the piece that Sciamanna wrote for the meritorious program of the Training Workshop of the National Theater Company (CNT) was staged for the first time, during the stage in which he was under the direction of Isaac Chocron and Ugo Ulive was its coordinator. At that time, Rafael Gil was a budding actor.

That experience, says Gil, was highly pleasant and instructive and although attempts were made to republish it on several occasions, it was never possible until now that all the conditions were met.

On this occasion, the montage also has a deeply environmentalist tone, just when humanity faces the harsh consequences of climate change. The story revolves around a group of beggars who arrive at a vacant lot converted into a public garbage dump on the outskirts of the city, where they get a large quantity of shoes, just on Christmas Eve. There they decide to treat themselves to some lines from the remembered Caracas chronicler, poet and essayist.

In alliance with the company Multirecicla, the work offers a general cost of $5 per ticket, which can become $3 if the public who attends any of the presentations brings waste material such as plastic, glass or cardboard containers, and Place it in the containers provided for this purpose.
