The merchant of Venice will be in Caracas

It premieres next May 31 on the stages of the Chacao Theater

The Merchant of Venice, a play by playwright William Shakespeare, will premiere on May 31 on the stages of the Chacao Theater.

The play is one of Shakespeare's most famous plays, framed within the comedy-drama genre. It tells the story of Bassanio, a fallen Venetian nobleman, who asks his best friend, Antonio, a rich merchant, to lend him 3.000 ducats that will allow him to make the rich Portia fall in love with him.

For Juan Carlos Grisal, producer and actor of the piece, “it is a work that is very valid, despite having been written more than 400 years ago. These are situations that are in force today.”

In a version adapted and produced by Grisal, who in turn plays Shylock, this play is directed and staged by José Tomás Angola. It features the acting talent of Asdrúbal Blanco, Absalón De Los Ríos, Rut Gruber, Edisson Spinetti, Virginia Rivero, Julio César Arana, Miguel Ángel Treccia and Karla Mosquera.

The premiere performance will be at 6:00 pm and there will be two more on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 at 4:00 pm. Tickets are on sale at the Liveri platform and box office.
