8th headquarters of the Climate Crisis Observatory inaugurated in Cojedes

The space will generate crucial information to confront the climate crisis in the central plains of Guárico and Cojedes

With the purpose of generating crucial information to confront the climate crisis in the central plains of Guárico and Cojedes, the 8th regional headquarters of the National Climate Crisis Observatory was inaugurated, an initiative promoted by President Nicolás Maduro, in order to consolidate a robust network of national observatories.

The headquarters is located in the advanced education area of ​​Unellez, San Carlos, it has high-tech equipment and the collaboration of professional university specialists from this plains entity, who will collect all the information on climate change to contribute to the mitigation, adaptation and monitoring processes.

The opening ceremony was headed by the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Josué Lorca, accompanied by the vice-rector of Unellez Cojedes, Hayden Pirela; the director of the state's Ecosocialist Territorial Unit, Eglis García; the Organizer of the Psuv, John Moreno, the Bolivarian mayors, among other authorities.

Minister Lorca pointed out that at the national level the observatory has more than 120 associated scientists in different areas, “investigating, observing and giving proposals to the different levels of decision, on how to address the climate crisis in Venezuela through different national plans, adaptation, regional mitigation plans, governance and climate empowerment,” he explained.

He recalled that since the arrival of Commander Hugo Chávez, the country has been at the forefront “since he launched the concept of socialism, we have advanced with a strengthening of an entire institutional and legal framework at the national level (…) we continue to advance with a vanguard scientific, technical and popular that allows us to give concrete responses to the most catastrophic scenarios that lie ahead,” stressed the minister of ecosocialism.

They plant a thousand trees in the Forest of Youth

Earlier, Minister Lorca together with the governor of Cojedes, Alberto Galíndez, participated in the planting of a thousand trees, an activity carried out in the Youth Forest, located in Tinaquillo, which also had the enthusiastic participation of 820 children from 14 schools in the surrounding communities.

Lorca celebrated the creation of this forest and the planting of a thousand trees, “of the thousands that will come to be planted here, a healthy space, recovered together with the Bolivarian government by instructions of President Nicolás Maduro and thanks to the governor of the entity,” he pointed.

Likewise, he highlighted the environmental awareness work carried out in the schools and teams that have been working on the recovery of this space, as well as calling on the population to empower themselves with the forest and allow continuity over time, “this It is an example for all governorates and mayors to join in building forests within landfills,” said Minister Lorca.
