The film adaptation will be released in 2026

After starring in the film “The Idea of Having You,” Nicholas Galitzine is preparing to play the warrior He-Man in the upcoming film adaptation of “Masters of the Universe,” which will be released on the big screen in 2026.

According to Variety, the film, which has been in production for years, will be written by Chris Butler of “ParaNorman” (2012) and “Missing Link” (2019), and will be directed by Travis Knight.

“By the power of Greyskull, I have the power! I am beyond proud to announce that I will be playing Adam Prince of Eternia in 'Masters of the Universe'. "It's been a dream for so long to play someone with his heart, humor and heroism, I can't wait to get started," Galitzine shared in a post on Instagram.

“We are thrilled to bring the beloved 'Masters of the Universe' to life and couldn't be more excited to announce the immensely talented Nicholas Galitzine as our He-Man. Joining forces with director Travis Knight, Mattel and Escape Artists, this reintroduction of the character and his universe will be an epic film that will delight audiences from here to Eternia,” announced Julie Rapaport, head of film production and development at Amazon.

For his part, Robbie Brenner, president of Mattel Films, said that Mattel Films is proud to work with Amazon and partner again with Courtenay Valenti to bring “Masters of the Universe” to the big screen. “We are thrilled to be producing alongside the highly respected and prolific Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, with the visionary Travis Knight and the charismatic and talented Nicholas Galitzine, our Prince Adam/He-Man!” he said.

Until now, it is not clear where the expected story is heading. The most recent version of the film suggested that Prince Adam would arrive on Earth as just a child, having to return to his planet to defend it from the evil forces of Skeletor, but first he would have to discover the secrets of his past.
