Karol G will be recognized by Billboard Latin Women in Music

Colombian singer Karol G will be honored with the 'Woman of the Year' award in the Billboard Latin Women in Music music special. The gala will take place next Sunday, June 9, on the Telemundo network.

“Karol G has left an indelible mark on the music industry with her talent and impact on female empowerment,” the organization said in a statement.

The award comes to the Medellín vocalist a few months after being named Billboard's 2024 Woman of the Year. There she was highlighted for her extraordinary achievements and her unparalleled impact on the music industry.

There is more

The Colombian, winner of a Grammy and five Latin Grammy Awards, joins other honorees. Gloria Estefan, Camila Cabello, Ana Bárbara, Ángela Aguilar, Kali Uchis and Kany García are some of the other protagonists.

The first will be highlighted with the Leyenda award, while the vocalist of hits like 'Havana' or 'Bam Bam' will receive the Global Impact award. The Mexican Ana Bárbara, for her part, will celebrate the Musical Career award, while her compatriot Ángela Aguilar will do the same with the Musical Dynasty award. The American Kali Uchis will stand out as Rising Star and Kany García will take the trophy for Spirit of Change.

The franchise, which began in 2023, recognizes the importance of Latin women in the music industry such as Karol G, whose musical career includes five albums, more than 70 singles, and multiple collaborations with prominent artists.

The only Latina who has achieved it

“It is on the Hot Latin Songs list where Karol G really shines. On that chart, she has a record 63 titles, the most for any female artist. Additionally, her 26 top 10 hits and eight No. 1 hits, including 'Mamii' with Becky G, 'Tusa' with Nicki Minaj and 'Provenza', highlight her dominance. In fact, Karol ranks third in number of No. 1 hits among women on the Hot Latin Songs chart, only behind Gloria Estefan with 15, and Shakira with 13,” Billboard highlighted.

The organization also recalled that Karol G was the first woman to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 list with an album in Spanish: 'Tomorrow will be nice'.

Last year we signed the Pact for Gender Equality in Colombia, an agreement that symbolizes the co-responsibility of around XNUMX organizations with the implementation of actions that contribute to reducing inequalities.

It should be noted that in its first edition, the musical special Billboard Latin Women in Music honored the Colombian Shakira as Woman of the Year, the Mexican Ana Gabriel as Living Legend, the Argentine Emilia as Rising Star and the Mexican Thalía as Powerful Global, among others.

The Venezuelan Evaluna Montaner, was also honored with the Tradition and Future award. The Venezuelan Elena Rose also participated as a presenter at the event, who paid tribute to Caracas with her dress.
