Demi Moore gave her opinion on the “Ghost” remake

The actress is confident and optimistic about Channing Tatum's adventure

The expectation behind the remake of “Ghost” takes a turn based on the latest comments made by Demi Moore, one of its protagonists. The actress spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the future return of one of Hollywood's most remembered and famous films.

In the 1990 film, Moore played Molly Jensen, a ceramic sculptor who loses her great love after being murdered in a robbery. In the midst of her suffering and searching for answers to her pain, Molly will cross paths with the powerless psychic Oda Mae Brown (Whoopi Goldberg).

Brown, who knows herself to be a charlatan, will be the first to be surprised when the spirit of Sam Wheat (Patrick Swayze) scares her by trying to contact his girlfriend. As the plot unfolds, the viewer will not only discover the reason why Sam was killed, but also how difficult it is for him to leave earth and reach heaven.

Intrigued

Without wanting to back down on anyone, Moore said that he is intrigued to see what can be done with Blockbuster.

“Every story, in some way, has already been told. The wonderful thing is the different way things can be reinterpreted,” Moore said. “I think there are some films that are often better left alone and left alone, and sometimes there are wonderful surprises in that reinterpretation.”

Clearly, the American actress supports the claims of her colleague Channing Tatum. He is behind the revamp of this Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress (Goldberg) in 1991.

And although in 2023 the protagonist of “Magic Mike” announced that his production company, Free Association, had acquired the rights to remake “Ghost”, little is known.

Tatum hasn't even reached out to Moore to hear more than he thinks. “He is super talented. I would like to see what he decides to do,” she said. The statements were offered by the actress recently at the Cannes Film Festival.

Directed by Jerry Zucker, “Ghost” not only elevated its protagonists who managed to eclipse the public that flocked to the movie theaters and then enjoyed it on TV repeatedly. He also repositioned songs like “Unchained Melody“, by The Righteous Brothers, which had already been a hit in the 60s but catapulted sales of the soundtrack.

What is known

Tatum told Vanity Fair that he planned to take on the role of Swayze. “But we're going to do something different,” she blurted out. “I think it needs to change a little bit.”

With absolute secrecy, it does not seem that the project is around the corner. Especially since Tatum has a busy schedule with the releases of other major films on the way. On the one hand there is “Fly Me to the Moon”, directed by Greg Berlanti and starring Scarlett Johansson; and, on the other, “Blink Twice,” a thriller that marks Zoe Kravitz's directorial debut.

In the latter, Tatum shares credits with renowned actresses such as: Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Christian Slater, Kyle MacLachlan and Geena Davis.
