Bullying prevention program reaches Maracay schools

Girardot Municipal Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents will hold talks at 10 schools

To prevent bullying, the Municipal Council of the Rights of Children and Adolescents of Girardot, addresses different educational institutions in the capital of Aragon, through a program, which offers educational talks on school violence and criminal responsibility of adolescents.

Mary Boyer, director of the Council, explained that this prevention and care program for the victims of this scourge was deployed this week in 10 educational centers in the city of Maracay, with the participation of a multidisciplinary group of professionals, made up of psychologists, legal advisors and protection advisors.

Among the topics addressed with students and teachers are bullying and criminal liability, the proper use of digital technology, gender equality and discrimination.

"Our workshops are aimed at students, with quite simple, dynamic and didactic codes so that they can focus on everything related to this scourge, which can trigger criminal liability in cases of adolescents over 14 years of age, but if they are minors 13 years old also have responsibility that is assumed by their representatives as established by the Lopnna,” Boyer explained.

Likewise, he highlighted that the workshops are carried out within the framework of the “Girardot Safe and Reliable” plan, a municipal government policy that seeks to benefit young people through this series of meetings held under a dynamic and didactic scheme.

“Exhaustive work has been done with the administrative staff and teachers to provide guidance on the action protocols in case of bullying, and in this way achieve an effective approach and solution,” added the official.
