14 families relocated to build a road in the upper area of ​​Puerto La Cruz

The avenue construction project includes improvements in lighting and drainage in the sector

The mayor's office of the Sotillo municipality, in the Anzoátegui state, completed the relocation of 14 families and demolished the homes to continue with the construction project of Don Teodoro Guevara Avenue, in the upper area of ​​Puerto La Cruz.

Mayor Nelson Moreno directed the work to demolish the structures, and make way for what will be the new road, which in addition to ending an area used for the waste container, will allow a quick and safe connection between the Valle Lindo and Las sectors. Charas.

According to Moreno, the 63 people who make up these families and who were in a high-risk situation, were relocated to decent and safe homes, purchased on the secondary market in the same municipality.

The project to convert that area, known as the rotten curve, into a wide road began in February of this year and presents significant progress.

The municipal president recalled that the important work includes lighting the sector, improvements in drainage and repair of bridges.

In a new inspection tour, the mayor accompanied by the popular power, indicated that they are in the phase of adapting the land for the street.

Don Teodoro Guevara

This new road in Puerto La Cruz will be named after Teodoro Guevara in tribute to the union leader, politician, deputy and PCV activist, who died three years ago, who lived in the popular community of Valle Lindo.

Bibliographic references indicate that Guevara was of peasant origin, an origin that did not prevent him from participating as a member of the central committee of the leftist party in several international congresses in the former Soviet Union, Cuba and Germany (GDR), among other countries.

Rehabilitation of the Paseo de la Cruz y el Mar began

Regarding the comprehensive rehabilitation work of the Paseo de la Cruz y el Mar in Puerto La Cruz, the mayor reported that improvements are planned in one kilometer of road, corresponding to the first stage of the expansion, from the parking lot of the cross to the renowned breakwater.

He said that the work of removing granite for its replacement is progressing, as well as improvements to the slab, caico, gardening, decoration and beautification of landscaping, beach courts, roads and lighting, among other works.
