They report impacts on the Mundo Nuevo population in Anzoátegui

The overflowing of the Amana River left that town incommunicado and caused considerable damage.

The torrential rains that hit the population of Mundo Nuevo, in the Freites municipality of Anzoátegui state, for more than 12 hours, caused the Amana River to overflow, leaving that town incommunicado and causing considerable damage.

The mighty river flooded the communities of El Amparo, El Samán and Urica, causing the collapse of a section of the road and the collapse of bridges that connected Mundo Nuevo with the La Puerta hamlet in Monagas state (on the road to Punta de Mata).

The floods left more than 10 people affected, who lost their homes and belongings.

It is estimated that more than 30 hectares of agricultural crops were destroyed by the flooding of the river, an event that occurred as a result of the passage of Hurricane Beryl through the Eastern Caribbean.

Civil Protection teams from the Freites municipality moved to the affected area to provide support to the victims and evaluate the damage.

The authorities recommend that residents of the area take precautionary measures and avoid traveling through affected areas.
