Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a conversation with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon that he would have to isolate himself due to COVID-19 cases in his inner circle, the Tass agency reported on Tuesday.
"Vladimir Putin said that due to the identified coronavirus cases in his inner circle, he should observe self-isolation for some time."
For his part, the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov reported that "The president is absolutely healthy." He explained that the Russian Head of State performed the PCR test, yielding a negative result.
The Kremlin spokesman clarified that among the President's contacts there were several patients. “Doctors do their job. It is a normal practice when a person is in contact, they wait a certain number of days, for a time, ”Peskov explained.
"When the doctors completed their studies, they completed the necessary procedures, then a decision was made [on self-isolation] based on the specialists' recommendations," the spokesperson concluded.
