Two unmanned devices attacked the facilities of the Novoshájtinsk Oil Refinery (Russian province of Rostov-on-Don) on Wednesday, causing a fire as a result of the explosion they caused, agencies report.
"On 22.06.2022, as a result of a terrorist action carried out from the western border of the Rostov-on-Don province, two drones attacked technological facilities of the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery joint-stock company, causing an explosion and a fire," the statement said. from the press office of this company.
The fire spread 50 square meters, the firefighters needed an hour and a half to put it out.
The governor of the Rostov-on-Don province, Vasili Golubev, stated that according to the version, the fire broke out as a result of the attack.
The security forces report that two Ukrainian drones flew over the territory of the plant on Wednesday, one hit the heat exchanger and the other moved away.
Covering an area of 300 hectares and 100 kilometers from Rostov-on-Don, Novoshakhtinsk is the only oil refinery in the region. It produces and sells gasoline, fuel oil, diesel fuel and heavy oil.
The Novoshakhtinsk Refinery is the largest supplier of oil derivatives in the southern part of Russia.
