Celac reiterated its rejection of the US unilateral coercive measures (+ Statement)

The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) reiterated its rejection of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States government, in the Declaration document of the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government, held this Saturday 18 of September in Mexico.

In this sense, Celac expressed its repudiation for considering that said measures are "contrary to international law", for this reason "it reaffirms its commitment to the full validity of International Law, the peaceful solution of disputes and the principle of non-intervention in matters internal states ”.

Next, Celac confirms its commitment to building a more just, inclusive, equitable and harmonious international order, based on respect for International Law and the principles of the United Nations Charter, including the sovereign equality of States. , the peaceful settlement of disputes, international cooperation for development, respect for territorial integrity and non-intervention in the internal affairs of States »

It also expresses its willingness to support "the defense of the sovereignty and the right of every State to build its own political system, free from threats, aggressions and unilateral coercive measures in an environment of peace, stability, justice, democracy and respect for the human rights".

In the "Declaration of Mexico City", issued after the VI Celac Summit held this Saturday in the Mexican capital, the organization is positioned in 44 points on a wide variety of issues, including a fairer international order, the consolidation of democracy, the strengthening of education and gender equality, the fight against corruption and poverty, and respect for human rights and the rights of minorities, vulnerable groups, indigenous peoples, indigenous peoples and Afro-descendants, among other matters.
