ALBA-TCP asks to report attempts to undermine vaccine distribution

The Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Sacha Llorenti, urged the international community to denounce any attempt that seeks to undermine the distribution of vaccines against the pandemic to global level.

This appeal is made by the Executive Secretary of ALBA-ATP, Sacha Llorenti, as a result of the public accusations made by the World Health Organization (WHO) against some rich countries that try to weaken the global distribution of anti-covid drugs.

Through his account on the social network Twitter, Llorenti wrote: “It urges the countries of the global south, through the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries (NAM) and the Group of 77, to have one voice to denounce and eradicate these practices that cost lives ”.

In another tweet, he detailed that the state companies “Boliviana de Aviación, in Bolivia; Aerolineas Argentinas, in Argentina and Conviasa, in Venezuela transport vaccines for their towns. Without a strong state, we could not face these great challenges.

It should be noted that the director general of the WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, warned this Monday that when rich countries review their contracts to buy more covid vaccines this is to the detriment of the funds that poor states receive through multilateral initiatives.

“If we cannot buy vaccines, the money is useless. Some industrialized countries are buying more doses and consequently the contracts with Covax are being affected ”, said the head of the World Health Organization.
