UN warns of humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to Israeli attacks

International organizations have reiterated that there is no safe place in Gaza

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that almost 1,9 million people were displaced by Israel's constant attacks against Gaza, where an unprecedented humanitarian crisis is being experienced.

In its recent report, the entity indicated that these people were forced to move up to nine or ten times, reported Prensa Latina.

In addition, he noted that the permanent attacks by Israeli forces generate civilian casualties, displacement and the destruction of various residential structures.

The OCHA detailed that some 50 children have been born in that territory in the last nine months in “traumatic, unhealthy and without basic services” conditions.

Likewise, he stressed that more than 500 displaced people in buildings of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Middle East (UNRWA) have died from the attacks and more than 600 were injured.

New evacuation orders

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Avihai Edri reported that they have called on Palestinians in the western districts of Gaza to abandon their homes.

The official declared that those in neighborhoods such as Rimal, Sabra and Tel al-Hawa, and others nearby, should “evacuate immediately to humanitarian zones” in the city of Deir al-Balah, in the center of the Gaza Strip.

In response to this call, the director general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, reiterated that there is no safe place in Gaza.

“The latest reports of evacuation orders in Gaza City will further impede the provision of very limited life-saving care,” he warned.

He explained that several hospitals are out of service and that patients self-evacuated, were discharged early or were referred to “Kamal Adwan and Indonesian hospitals, which are suffering from shortages of fuel, beds and trauma medical supplies.”

However, he highlighted that there are several care centers located within or near evacuation zones, which could quickly cease to function due to hostilities or obstruction of access.
