For his part, the Russian minister congratulated Wang on his first visit to Russia as Chinese Foreign Minister. “I would like to point out the importance of Russian-Chinese cooperation to ensure justice in world affairs, to ensure the balance of interests in the processes developing in various directions,” Lavrov said.

Likewise, the Russian Foreign Minister stated that he hopes that the two countries will continue their coordinated work at the UN General Assembly and at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit. “There are many multilateral forums ahead. First of all, the UN General Assembly, […] then will come the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit and many other summits and high-level meetings,” the minister clarified, starting the negotiations. “I am confident that our well-coordinated work will continue during these forums,” he said.

During the meeting, both Foreign Ministers addressed a wide range of topics, including high-level bilateral cooperation, the Ukrainian conflict and the situation in the Asia-Pacific region.
