China protests US sanctions against 12 national companies

China vigorously protests the sanctions imposed by the United States on 12 of its national companies and will present solemn representations to that country, the Ministry of Commerce reported Thursday.

The United States has exceeded the concept of national security and has imposed sanctions arbitrarily, Shu Jueting, a ministry spokeswoman, told a press conference in response to questions about the inclusion of Chinese companies on the United States' blacklist, Xinhua said.

"This action seriously lacks a factual basis and its procedures are very opaque," he said.

Shu pointed out that the new sanctions list presented by the United States Department of Commerce does not conform to the consensus reached by the heads of state of both nations, does not serve the interests of the two countries and undermines the security of industrial chains and supply markets, as well as the global economic recovery.
