The first thing that I am going to highlight here is that yesterday Vice President Delcy Rodríguez received in her office the director of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) for Latin America and the Caribbean, María Dolores Castro, with whom he reviewed the agreement signed in 2021 between that entity and the Venezuelan government and projected the cooperation strategy for the year 2023. The WFP is expected to serve one million children in vulnerable situations in 16 states of the country, which is an increase of more than 100%, since the current cooperation has a reach of 430.000 girls and boys in eight states.
President Nicolás Maduro had received at the beginning of the week to the head of the WFP, David Beasley, and yesterday the expansion of this important cooperation program was completed operationally.
An interesting fact is the one provided in an interview by the president of the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics, Juan Teixeira, who said that Venezuela currently registers almost 60% of international air operations. And little by little things are growing.
The head of Ceofanb, Domingo Hernández Lárez, reported a piece of news yesterday that caught my attention, although I did not see that it generated a greater echo. He said that a training camp for paramilitary groups was dismantled in Bolívar. It seems that the place was used by the criminal mega-gang known as "Las 3R", related to illegal mining. The good thing is that they disrupted the thing and, in addition, they seized a lot of weapons.
Yesterday, 112 new cases of covid-19 were reported in Venezuela, with no deaths.
The updated statistics are:
- 547.049 confirmed cases
- 929 active cases
- 540.293 people recovered (99%)
- 5.827 deceased
The Central Bank of Venezuela reported that yesterday's exchange tables showed an average of 10,23 bolivars per dollar. Remember that this is the only rate valid for any transaction today.
Yesterday the photographer Dani Gago captured this tremendous graphic of the moment when the Minister of Equality and leader of Podemos, Irene Montero, accused the Vox fascists in the Spanish congress, after they carried out a series of embarrassing macho personal attacks against her person in the middle of the chamber and that of San Quintín will be formed at the headquarters of the Spanish Parliament.
"... that feminists and democrats are more and we are going to stop this band of fascists with more rights."
The episode generated a wave of expressions of solidarity with Montero by personalities from his country and the world, including several Latin American presidents.
I invite you to read this week's edition of Country Oil. Professor Werther Sandoval explains to us how PDVSA is currently focused on improving the efficiency of cardinal processes oil tankers, that is: exploration, production, improvement and refining. In addition, it informs us about how the price of the Venezuelan basket is going in the international market.
the second surprise
It happened again. Germany, one of the favorite teams to win the World Cup in Qatar 2022, unexpectedly lost 2-1 to Japan. The Teutons are now forced to defeat the Spanish “La Roja” on Sunday, that started on fire and thrashed Costa Rica 7-0. In the photo, the Japanese celebrate the equalizer.
