The whole country affected

As you probably imagined, the news today is still the rain. What happened yesterday was very strong and had consequences in several regions of the country. I tell you, so that we know what we are talking about, that what was first the "Tropical Wave No. 41", became the "Tropical Depression 13". This means that things got complicated.

The "depression" is the stage before the tropical storm, strong gales of up to 62 km / h are formed. The good thing is that by now you should be leaving the national territory. So the expectation is that the situation tends to stabilize.

Look here the Inameh forecast for the next 24 hours

President Nicolás Maduro last night gave an assessment of the rain situation and reported that there were 120 municipalities affected. The hardest-hit entities are Falcón, Zulia, the Capital District and Miranda. Civil Protection accounts 22 thousand homes damaged. Maduro reported that 24 shelters were activated, one in each entity, to serve these people.

He also noted that 24 more tropical waves are yet to pass before the end of the year.

Everything happened in Caracas, fallen trees on Av. Libertador and Cota Mil, flooded areas and landslides. 25 families lost their house in La Vega and President Maduro promised them last night that they would solve a house for them. in petare the Guaire river rose quite a bit, but it did not overflow.

You can review the balance of the rainfall situation in each state visiting ultimasnoticias.com.ve and browsing the sections corresponding to each entity. Remember that we have correspondents throughout the country.

Maria Lionza in Sorte

Regarding the matter of the statue of María Lionza, the matter is settled as follows: The Institute of Cultural Heritage (IPC) published a statement which explains that, in the framework of the recovery work of the UCV, they realized that the sculpture of Alejandro Colina was stored in very poor conditions. Then they inspected and determined that "its integral conservation nor its enjoyment" was not being guaranteed. So, as the work is registered in the National Cultural Heritage Registry, the IPC took action on the matter.

They decided to restore it and place it at the foot of the Sorte mountain, in Yaracuy, where the goddess represented in the sculpture is worshiped.

For the last two days, Foreign Minister Carlos Faría has been responding to statements by gringo officials who, as happens from time to time, have taken to launching a series of statements about internal affairs in Venezuela. For example, responded to Assistant Secretary of State Brian Nichols, who spoke about human rights in Venezuela. Faria told him that if he really cared about the human rights of Venezuelans, he would remove the sanctions that are making it difficult for the country to overcome the economic crisis.

Yesterday, 14 new cases of covid-19 were reported in Venezuela, with no deaths.

The updated statistics are:

  • Total infections: 544.921
  • Recovered patients: 538.439 (99%)
  • Active cases: 664
  • Total deaths: 5.818

Exchange rate

The Central Bank of Venezuela reported that yesterday's exchange tables showed an average of 8,21 bolivars per dollar. Remember that this is the only rate valid for any transaction today.

The madness

In the international arena, they stood out yesterday the scandalous words of the president of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky, who asked NATO to attack Russia in a "preemptive" way. His argument is that Western countries should "prevent Russia from carrying out a nuclear attack." Logically, NATO does not stop him much. Only Joe Biden made a game of the speech to say that we are "on the verge of a nuclear Armageddon", which has not been seen since the Cuban missile crisis in 1962, according to him.

But what Zelensky is really asking is for the war to take on a higher dimension. as he said Kremlin spokesman:

"These statements are nothing more than a call to start another world war with unforeseeable and monstrous consequences."

Well, my people, that's how this informative week ends. Please, take care of yourself, watch out for the rain and we'll see each other again on Monday.
