China and Venezuela

Hello. Let's review the most relevant of yesterday's day.

Links

Last night, President Nicolás Maduro received at the Miraflores Palace a delegation of the government of the People's Republic of China led by Qiu Xiaoqi, Special Representative for Latin American and Caribbean Affairs. The meeting dealt with the bilateral cooperation map. This is very important, taking into account that China is today one of the main drivers of the economy worldwide and Venezuela has functioned as a "gateway" to Latin America for the Asian giant and is one of its main partners in the region.

"We ratify the will to continue advancing in the consolidation of the new geopolitics of peace," Foreign Minister Carlos Faría tweeted.

parliamentary cooperation

Another piece of news is that yesterday he was installed in the National Assembly the Venezuela Colombia Parliamentary Friendship Group, chaired by Deputy Julio Chávez, who said that it is an instance to "promote the legal instruments that are needed to restore prosperity and comprehensive development to the border and promote economic, academic, educational, cultural and scientific exchanges."

Reform advances

Speaking of the National Assembly, during yesterday's ordinary session it was approved in the first discussion the reform project of the Organic Law of People's Power. Remember that seven laws that have to do with the operation of communes and communal councils will be reformed with the aim of boosting their capacity to manage community affairs. The public consultation process will start today.

liberate territories

Find out here about details of what the ELN and the Petro government are discussing at the dialogue table installed in the Waraira Repano. Among the first issues addressed is the pacification of conflict zones, focusing on the well-being of the population that has suffered from war for decades.

new face

And find out that, in a year, the Venezuela Bella Mission has restored 47 buildings and 548 classrooms of the Central University of Venezuela. In November 2021, the Government had to take action since the state of Ciudad Universitaria was truly unfortunate. Today things are very different.

Contagion

Yesterday 47 new cases of covd-19 were reported in Venezuela, without deaths.

The updated statistics are:

  • 546.937 confirmed cases
  • 844 active cases
  • 540.266 people recovered (99%)
  • 5.827 deceased

Exchange rate

The Central Bank of Venezuela reported that yesterday's exchange tables showed an average of 9,99 bolivars per dollar. Remember that this is the only rate valid for any transaction today.

The backfire

A fact that caught my attention in the international field was the decision of the president of Mexico, Andrés López Obrador, to suspend the summit of the Pacific Alliance because the congress of Peru did not give permission to its president, Pedro Castillo, to travel to Mexico. The Peruvian parliament has, as you must be clear, a kind of political "bullying" to Castillo, from day one they are trying to remove him and they block everything they can. Well, what López Obrador did is completely logical, since Pedro Castillo must receive the pro tempore presidency of the Pacific Alliance, so it makes no sense to hold the summit without him. If what the Peruvian opposition was looking for was to harm Castillo's international image, I think it would backfire, because now they are planning to hold the summit in December in Peru, meaning that Castillo would host this international event.

The Arab surprise

the argentinian team unexpectedly lost to Saudi Arabia in their first game of Qatar 2022. The albiceleste arrived confident of taking their first three points and ended up with a low spirit, in addition to compromising, from the outset, their chances of qualifying. Messi's men need to beat Mexico on Saturday to recover. For their part, the Saudis celebrated like never before.

The abuser

Before you go, be sure to watch Ronald Acuña Jr.'s home run, hit with which he debuted last night in the Venezuelan tournament this year with the Sharks of La Guaira. Acuña's was the most anticipated debut and it was supposed to be today against the Cardenales, but they unexpectedly took him out as a pinch hitter yesterday against Magallanes and with a single swing he propelled three of the nine runs with which Tiburones buried Navegantes.

That's how this ends for now. Have a very cool and active day. We'll read early tomorrow.
