As of next November 1, WhatsApp will stop working on devices with the Android 4.0.4 or earlier operating system, the company announced on its website.
"WhatsApp will end support for phones with Android 4.0.4 or earlier as of November 1, 2021. We recommend switching to a compatible device or saving your chat history before that date," reads the company's statement.
WhatsApp explained that the oldest version that will continue to be supported is Android 4.1, provided that the user's 'smartphone' can "receive SMS or calls during the number verification process." In addition, the company offers support for Android tablets with an active SIM card and does not support devices equipped only with Wi-Fi, refers the RT web portal.
At the same time, it should be noted that WhatsApp stopped working on smartphones with an operating system lower than iOS 10. The corresponding changes were already revealed last March by the Wabetainfo technology portal.
