Salomón Rondón compares this Vinotinto with that of 2011

The striker highlighted the unity that exists between the entire squad and is committed to going far in the tournament

The striker and captain of the Venezuelan national team, Salomón Rondón, recognized the complicated duel he had la Vinotinto against Ecuador and who ended up winning 2-1 in their debut of the Copa América 2024.

In statements offered in the mixed zone after the match, the Venezuelan highlighted the work they did especially in the second half to be able to win the match.

“We lived it with great intensity, we knew it was going to be a complicated game and that they were very good at set pieces. Fortunately, their best player for that was sent off, although we suffered a rather childish goal,” he expressed.

“In the second half we came out convinced that we had to win and not give them a chance with a set piece and we were forceful, we had two chances and that's how we took the three points,” he added.

Rondón also acknowledged that the entire team is feeling quite well emotionally and because of the unity that exists in the locker room as they remember a little of what was experienced in the 2011 Copa América.

“The truth is that there have been many moments experienced in all the editions of the Copa América, if there is anything similar to 2011, there is a lot of camaraderie between us despite the age difference, we always try to maintain the atmosphere as best as possible,” projection.

“Also playing for your teammate despite being a forward is always a role that you play, I had a lot of reference from the two center backs with me but when Jhonder came in he freed himself up a little more,” he concluded.
