Detroit Tigers Venezuelan slugger Miguel Cabrera has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a left bicep strain that has been bothering him for the first part of this season.
Cabrera played first base yesterday in the 11-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. The Maracayero went 0-3 before being replaced by a pinch hitter in the ninth inning.
Tigers manager AJ Hinch noted that Cabrera has been dealing with the pain for a while and felt it even more on a swing during the seventh inning.
Hinch indicated that the Venezuelan will undergo various tests in Cleveland today. He will stay with the team and travel with the Tigers to Houston.
The also Venezuelan, Renato Núñez, has been chosen by Detroit to replace Miguel. Nunez joined the Tigres in a minor league deal before spring training, but was dropped to the minor leagues on March 30.
The Valencian spent the last three seasons with the Baltimore Orioles and in 2019 he dispatched 31 home runs in 2019.
