Spartans Distrito Capital continues with its unbeaten record in group "A" of the basketball Super League after beating Broncos de Caracas 85 by 71, on a matchday played at the José Joaquín Papá Carrillo (Parque Miranda).
The team achieved its fifth victory of the season in a closed duel against its rival from the capital, showing that they are candidates again, to win the championship.
A very intense first quarter that ended favorable for Spartans 28/21, thanks to the collective action of their pitchers.
Capital District, had four triples in the period that helped him to the advantage, while Broncos made another three to avoid losing distances.
All of the Spartans starters scored in this quarter, with Pedro Chourio leading the scorer with seven points. Alexander Morillo did the same for Broncos with eight tallies, including two triples.
The intensity didn't stop
The rhythm of the game was maintained in the second quarter, this time being favorable for Broncos 20/19, reaching the rest down on the scoreboard by six points (47/41).
Broncos tightened the defense and improved in an attack in the opening minutes, so that with 5:13 remaining, a triple by Garly Sojo gave him an advantage for the first time in the game. The meeting was kept in a "give and take", until the last two minutes where Spartans regained the advantage, with a double basket by Martin Escobar and triple baskets by Pedro Chourio and Lenin López.
Caracas (Broncos), maintained the offensive rhythm with triple baskets by Junior Martínez, Garly Sojo, Robert Yriarte and Héctor Díaz.
In another very close quarter, Distrito Capital took the part of the third 19/16 and extended the advantage to nine for the last period (66/57).
The game kept the duel from "side to side", from the court, where Broncos tied the game at 53 with a triple by Héctor Díaz with three minutes remaining. Spartans' response came immediately with a lay-up from José Rodríguez and a triple from Pedro Chourio, to take advantage again.

In the final stage, Pedro Chourio's work stood out so that Spartans will take the last quarter 19/14. The most valuable of the previous season scored six points (a triple), to give the final thrust to Broncos who lowered his arms in the last minutes, when he could not reach the advantage.
With this victory, Spartans continues to lead group “A” with five wins, no losses (10 pts), Broncos remains with two wins due to two setbacks with six points in the table.
For Spartans Pedro Chourio stood out with 24 points, four triples, six assists, 16 points for Lenin López, with eight assists, four rebounds and José Rodríguez with 14 points, 10 rebounds (Double - double).
In Broncos Garly Sojo stood out with "double - double", 19 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and Héctor Díaz and Alexander Morillo with 13 units each.
Héctor Díaz declared the game over for Broncos; “We have to close the games. We had blackouts and we lost focus at key moments. It's very frustrating because we played a good game, but we didn't win ”.
Spartans coach Pablo Favarel noted; "A very difficult game, they forced us to give 100% of our weapons to get the game. The entire staff is ready to produce when necessary, we have a solid depth and that is very favorable ”.
