Three fans convicted for racist insults against Vinícius

Court No. 10 of Valencia ordered eight months in prison for the events

The Investigative Court No. 10 of Valencia, in Spain, sentenced this Monday to eight months in prison the three soccer fans who made racist insults against the Real Madrid player, Vinícius Jr. 

According to the information provided by Real Madrid through a statement on its social network account

These racist insults occurred on May 21, 2023 at the Mestalla stadium, when Real Madrid was playing a League match against Valencia CF.

“Today, Monday, June 10, 10, the Investigative Court No. 2024 of Valencia has issued a condemnatory sentence against the three young people accused of insulting, with racist shouts and gestures, our player Vinicius Junior in the League match that took place. celebrated on May 21, 2023 at the Mestalla stadium between Valencia CF and Real Madrid CF,” the club said.

In addition to the eight months in prison, they have also been banned from entering any of Spain's football stadiums for a period of two years to prevent them from committing these same acts. 

"The three accused have accepted their criminal responsibility and have made public a letter of apology addressed to our player Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid CF and the rest of the people who felt denigrated and offended by their behavior," the text adds. 

Real Madrid notified that the accused sent a letter to Vinícius Jr. in which they apologize for what happened and expressed their total regret for the events.

“This is the first conviction for acts of this nature that criminal courts and tribunals have issued,” the letter concludes.
