China brings first samples of the far side of the Moon to Earth

The return capsule of the Chinese probe Chang'e-6 arrived on Earth this Tuesday with the first samples of the far side of the Moon.

The module arrived at the flag-designated area of ​​Siziwang, located in the autonomous region of Inner Mongolia (northern), operating normally, he reported. Xinhua.

The mission was declared a complete success, according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA). In addition, the equipment will be transferred to Beijing for its opening.

The entity specified that the lunar samples will be delivered to a team of scientists for storage, analysis and study.

One of the most complex missions

“Chang'e-6 is one of the most complex and challenging missions in the space exploration efforts of China till the date. Composed of an orbiter, a lander, an ascent module and a return module, it was launched on May 3 of this year and went through several stages, such as the Earth-Moon transfer, near-Moon braking, lunar orbit and the separation of the lander-ascent module combination and the orbiter-return module combination,” the agency explained.

For his part, the President of China, Xi Jinping, sent his congratulations for the success of the Chang'e-6 mission, ensuring that it is a new historic achievement for the country in its efforts to “become a space power.” and scientific-technological".

“The country and the people will always remember his extraordinary contributions,” he declared.

Samples from the Moon will lead to new discoveries

For her part, the Minister for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, highlighted in a message on her account in the social network X that these new samples will “inevitably” give way to new discoveries.

“The lunar samples brought back by the previous Chang'e-5 mission have already had access requests from international academics, and the process is underway,” he added.
