The “Manto de María” monument built in honor of the patron saint of Larenses, Divina Pastora - on a hill east of the city of Barquisimeto, Lara state - was rehabilitated in its lighting system.
The aforementioned religious work has a height of 62 meters and was inaugurated in 2016 as the highest in the world of its kind, followed by the monument to the Virgin of Peace, located in the state of Trujillo.
The governor of Lara state, Adolfo Pereira, participated this Monday in the lighting of the lights within the framework of the week of the Marian festival and stated that the monument “will not be open to the public, but it will project its image during every day and. especially, in this season of faith and hope that our Divine Pastor emanates ”.
26 lighting sources located in the upper, middle and lower part of the great image of the Divina Pastora were rehabilitated. This work was carried out thanks to the support of a team of rappelling experts from the Directorate of Disaster Administration and Civil Protection (PC).
Pereira invited all the Marian congregation to participate in the virtual pilgrimage number 165 of the "Shepherd of Souls", from their homes and using social networks: "to pray for the cessation of the pandemic and the reconciliation of Venezuelans" reported Pereira.
He also added that at the end of the covid-19 pandemic, the aforementioned tourist-religious space will open, from where you can contemplate the Lara state from its four cardinal points and enjoy its beautiful twilights.
