Maracaibo Plan for its People executes 62 social projects

The Maracaibo plan for its people, ensures the rights of the most vulnerable population such as food, health, education, sports and eradicating poverty, are the main fundamental objectives of the 62 projects framed in nine inter-institutional programs executed by the General Directorate of Development Social of the Mayor of Maracaibo. 

Selene Estrach, Director of Social Development, highlighted the multiple aspects that the Maracaibo plan for its People addresses in terms of the protection of the most vulnerable sectors and the comprehensive care of the Maracaibo people.

He explained that the plan guarantees the rights related to the happiness, dignity and well-being of citizens, where the 62 projects are carried out in conjunction with the 19 entities that make up the Directorate of Social Development, and the participation of other institutions.

Various programs such as the Violet Code and the Women's Observatory and Shelters for victims of gender-based violence guarantee the right of women to a life free of violence.

As well as the Healthy Mom and Baby program, whose banner is the Comprehensive Care Centers for Pregnant and Lactating Women (Caimel) and its future territorialization in the Popular Medical Offices (CMP), but which also engages with the defense of rights reproductive and sexual aspects, the promotion of breastfeeding, the school for families and the family planning project.

Estrach highlighted that the Child and Adolescent Protection System (NNA) ensures the rights and protection of infants and young people and distinguishes the Council of Rights of children and adolescents for the defense of collective rights, the Council of Protection for the attention of personal rights, and the support of the Fundación Niños del Sol (Fundanis). 

Likewise, the Family Guidance Centers and the Dining Schools are integrated, the program Children are not from the street and territorial ombudsmen for children and adolescents will soon be inaugurated. 

Estrach also said that the Cristo Mission aimed at eradicating poverty, nutritional care, the accompaniment of family production and the creation of nutritional supplements, as well as the permanent nutritional assessment and the correct provision of supplies of the health spaces recovered thanks to the Directorate of Management of Strategic Supplies for Health.

In cultural matters, he highlighted the Training Centers for visual arts, theater, dance, poetry, music and the gaita schools, as well as the Book Fair and the festivals of murals and humor. He also exalted sports championships and galas, sports initiation schools and inter-parish games, together with the Maracaibo City Half Marathon and the strengthening of sports promoters.
