In Barinas users reject illegal increase of the passage

Carriers increased the rate without consulting the authorities.

Users of public transport in the city of Barinas reject the increase in urban passage to 700 thousand bolivars and denounce irregularities committed by the drivers of the routes, including the failure to comply with prevention measures to prevent the spread of covid-19.

In addition, passengers assure that carriers devalue even the foreign currency, since they accept dollars well below the value.

Jesús Leal, a resident of the Rómulo Betancourt parish, described this action as illegal, since the rate increase has not been published in the gazette.

«The routes do what they earn. They do not comply with the route, they charge what they want and when it occurs to them. This morning I paid 500 thousand bolivars and in the afternoon 700 thousand. From one moment to another they increase the passage, "he declared.

Another testimony was that of María Graterol, a resident of the Virgen del Valle urbanization, who assures that the drivers violate the laws and mistreat users.

“If the passenger lacks money, they do not carry it, nor do they receive the 10 or 20 thousand bolivar bills, but the dollar is accepted 400 thousand bolivars below what the indicators mark. They also fill the entire unit and with people standing up that often go even without masks, "he said.

For his part, José Especier; Vice President of the Transportation Commission of the Municipal Council of Barinas reported that the adjustment of the rate was carried out without consultation, therefore it is illegalsince there was no prior request to the competent authorities.

He stated that the carriers by making the increase unilaterally do not assume responsibilities regarding the fulfillment of the service, (routes, schedules and frequencies) and respect for the exemption of the passage of the elderly and with some disability.
