The Bolivarian Mayor's Office of Maracaibo will activate a special security operation from March 30 to April 4, during the days of Holy Week in the different recreational parks, as well as in the Los Bucares road corridor, which is very crowded in holidays, in order to avoid crowds and thus comply with the radical 14-day quarantine decreed by the national government.

The mayor of Maracaibo, Willy Casanova, insisted that: "everyone has to do their part and in the responsibility of the municipality to ensure that citizens comply with the quarantine."

Casanova indicated that this measure is due to the arrival in Venezuela of the Brazilian variant of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, known as Brazil P.1, a more contagious variant that transmits a greater burden of the coronavirus, which has set off alarms throughout the South American region and forces the application of stronger mechanisms to halt its advance.

The municipal president called on all the Maracaibo people to strictly comply with the use of the mask and social distancing and asked that: “everyone think collectively and assume their responsibility to take care of themselves, their family and their environment ”.
