Endangered species found in La Guaira rescued

Protectionists and communities of La Guaira alerted the presence of three endangered species that were in captivity and on the streets. They made a complaint to the Ministry of Ecosocialism about a white-tailed deer, an arrau turtle and a witch heron, which were taken to the Maracay Zoo, Aragua.

Edison Adrián, state director of the Ministry of Ecosocialism, indicated that the animal species were in the possession of families or were rescued. “The white-tailed deer was seized by the GNB in ​​the Cervecería neighborhood, Maiquetía parish. It is presumed that he went down the slopes of Ávila, which is near this community ”.

He highlighted the work of protectionists and communities in the rescue of an arrau turtle, in Playa Los Cocos, Caraballeda parish. "This species comes from the Orinoco River and we presume that it was brought as a pet," as well as a witch heron, which was injured in a wing, on Avenida La Atlántida, Catia La Mar parish.

The specimens will be relocated to Aragua state, at the Las Delicias de Maracay Zoo, after receiving medical and technical attention with the support of protectionists, veterinarians, Misión Nevado, "in order to preserve the life of these specimens of the Venezuelan fauna and be reinserted into the wild, "said Adrián.

The protection actions were carried out with the support of the Bolivarian National Guard, Municipal Police. To date, they have executed more than 10 protective actions of this type in La Guaira. Three of them have received judicial and criminal measures.
