The Minister of Popular Power for Culture, Ernesto Villegas Poljak, together with the protector of Nueva Esparta, Dante Rivas and the mayor of the Arismendi municipality, Alí ​​Romero Farías, inaugurated this Wednesday, July 14, the “Bicentennial Monument of the Battle of Carabobo” in Simón Bolívar avenue in La Asunción, as part of the commemoration of the 200 years of this heroic and libertarian deed.

“This beautiful work, impeccably carried out in Nueva Esparta, is a tribute to our Liberator, to the warriors, heroes and heroines of Margarita who fought 200 years ago and to those who fight today to overcome the obstacles of the empires that seek to cloud peace. and the development of our country. It is the sword of the liberator Simón Bolívar that illuminates the path in times of difficulty. That sword that never surrendered ”, said the minister during the inauguration.

Villegas expressed his gratitude and congratulations on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro to protector Dante Rivas, Mayor Alí Romero and the entire team that made the construction of the monument possible.

"It is the responsibility of this generation and those to come, preserve the historical memory and live up to the legacy of the liberator Simón Bolívar and the heroes of the Battle of Carabobo," he emphasized.

The insular protector highlighted the importance of the independence feat of June 24, 1821 that will be remembered by the Neo-Spartans with the monument erected in his honor.

“The Battle of Carabobo was one of the most momentous episodes in our history and with this work we not only honor our independence heroes, but also the current struggles and victories of the Venezuelan people, who remain and will always remain firm, loyal and willing. to fight for the homeland, our sovereignty and independence ”.

Present at the activity were civil and military authorities, representatives of the public powers, heads of institutions, the municipal political team, councilors from Arismendi, the UBCH and the Palmeros Asuntinos.

The Nueva Esparta Educational Zone Regional Theater Collective, with its Master Ensemble, presented the play "Letters to the Liberator" and the Perlas Orientales dance group delighted the audience with its masterful performance.
