"Heavenly justice was done" were the words of German Castro, owner of the Los Abuelos cafeteria, located on Avenida Tres, in the Libertador municipality, Mérida. These were some of the manifestations of veneration on the day of the beatification of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández.
Castro added: “my faith towards Blessed Hernández was instilled by my parents who are from Trujillo. They left years ago to the house of God, but today I am joining this party that I waited for since I was a child ”.
For its part, the Mayor's Office of the Campo Elías municipality prepared the recently inaugurated Shrine dedicated to the Doctor of the Poor so that parishioners and devotees could witness the Holy Mass for the beatification of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández.
Likewise, the mayor's office organized a caravan through the main avenues of the Campo Elías jurisdiction in the afternoon, closing with a Thanksgiving mass at the monument.
Elga Andreina Guillen, a devotee of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández, related: “at the moment of the delivery of my first child, the doctor of the poor accompanied me. They were very difficult hours (…) Likewise, when my second son, Wilfer, suffered a traffic accident at the age of five, we prayed as a family and he (blessed) healed him. We are happy on this day, "she said.
In the Andrés Bello municipality of Mérida state, the parishioners celebrated the homily outside the Inmaculada Concepción church. The Azulitenses expressed their joy by releasing white balloons at the moment of the proclamation of the blessed along with the ringing of bells.
In the Nuestra Señora de Regla sanctuary, Tovar municipality, the Catholic community made an altar with hundreds of candles inside the church that expressed faith and hope, at this time of a pandemic caused by the coronavirus.
In the Libertador municipality, in the minor basilica of the Immaculate Conception, the attendees joined the official broadcast together with the clergy and regional authorities, as well as the ringing of the bells.
