In Barinas they celebrated Palm Day with controlled attendance of parishioners

More than 100 people attended to listen to the mass outside the Cathedral of Barinas.

In the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Pillar of the city of Barinas, the mass of Palm Sunday was celebrated with little attendance of parishioners inside the church. Only members of the clergy, musicians and some members of the parish community were allowed to access the temple and two or three faithful for each bench, to keep social distancing.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the enclosure, more than 100 people listened to the homily, where chairs were placed for the elderly, pregnant women and other attendees.

After the prohibition of public events, the church demanded that all attendees wear the mask and the participation of crowds was avoided.

The Eucharist was presided over by Bishop Jesús Alfonso Guerrero, who recalled that on this date the triumphal entry, as the Messiah, of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem is celebrated and Holy Week begins.

He asked for unity, peace, prosperity and for the health of all the people, as well as raised a prayer for all people who are infected with covid.

It was also reported that the temples in the entity will be closed during the Greater Week, to comply with the security measures in the fight against pandemic.
