The Fuel Staff of Nueva Esparta issued a statement on Monday, April 05, in which the population was informed of the restriction on the sale of fuel at the service stations of the island entity, in order to comply with the extension for one more week of the radical quarantine, decreed by the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
During the week from Monday 5 to Sunday 11, fuel will only be sold to the prioritized sectors: public transportation at the San Antonio station; of cargo, in El Dátil; health, pharmacies, and telecommunications, in Los Robles; security in Guatamare, and public service institutions at El Encanto station, by license plate number.
Likewise, the fishing stations will be active, to guarantee the work of the fishermen: El Faro (Porlamar), Mi Pueblo (La Guardia), Marina de Punta de Piedras, Robledal (Macanao Peninsula) and El Encanto (Porlamar).
The president of the Gasoline Dealers Association of the Nueva Esparta state, Liliana Mariani called on the population to remain calm due to these restrictions that she considers necessary to be able to overcome the increase in covid-19 cases that have occurred in the island entity.
“It is necessary for the community to collaborate with these measures, because they are a guarantee to overcome the pandemic. We want to safeguard the population, the less people there are on the streets, the less spread of the coronavirus and that is how we all win, ”he emphasized.
He added that in case of requiring fuel for an emergency, the population can make the request through the state protectorate. "We have been assisting more than 200 people who have made the request because they need to be transferred to health centers, chronically ill, and everyone is given an answer," he said.
