In Portuguesa bridge over Guache river collapses

The pavement collapsed at km 43, towards Acarigua-Ospino.

On the José Antonio Páez highway, Portuguesa state, a counterflow channel was enabled this Wednesday after the bridge over the Guache River collapsed on the afternoon of Tuesday 12 and part of the pavement collapsed at kilometer 43, Acarigua-Ospino direction.

The regional government had machinery and a team of 19 people for repairs on Wednesday, without closing the vehicular passage and with all the security measures to guarantee day and night traffic, Governor Rafael Calles reported on his Instagram account.

The lower structure of the bridge was undermined due to the rains registered in the area, wrote @rafaelcallesportuguesa, while calling on the users of this important road artery, which links Portuguesa with Barinas and Cojedes, to take precautions.

The moment when the bridge collapsed over the Guache River was recorded in a video that circulated at the end of the afternoon this Tuesday on social networks and caused consternation among the Portuguese.
