The new Call of Duty will be the first to arrive Day 1 on Game Pass

A report ensures that the next installment of Activision's shooter will arrive in October to Microsoft's subscription service

Last week it was reported that some Xbox executives were in the process of debating whether whether or not to put Call of Duty on Game Pass, just days later, it seems that we already have an official decision: The next installment of Activision's shooter will arrive on Day 1 on Game Pass for Xbox and PC.

According to a report by Wall Street Journal, sources familiar with the situation affirm that this year's delivery, which will probably be announced during the Xbox Showcase scheduled for June 9, will join the list of games on Microsoft's subscription service.

The new Call of Duty will be the first to arrive Day 1 on Game Pass 1

This would be the first time a Call of Duty game has been included in such a service at launch, and would mean that for players with access to Xbox platforms, the cost of entry to the game would be just $10.

“Microsoft plans a major restructuring of its video game sales strategy by releasing the next Call of Duty installment to its subscription service instead of the lucrative and traditional approach of selling it solely on demand,” according to the article.

With Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard King at the end of 2023, it was expected that it would eventually come to Game Pass. Let us remember that just a few months ago, Diablo 4 joined the service.

The arrival of Call of Duty to Game Pass could mean a price increase

With the arrival of the next installment of Call of Duty to Game Pass this year, it would be logical to expect a price increase in the various subscription levels, taking into account that, in physical and digital stores, it is priced at $70 dollars and that at Despite the negative reception of Modern Warfare 3 last year, it managed to position itself as one of the best-selling games on different platforms for several months.

Broadening the picture, including a game of this caliber to Game Pass could be a risk for Microsoft Gaming, as it would be the biggest game to ever enter the subscription service except for Grand Theft Auto 5 who has been there on various occasions.

Xbox Game Pass Core for consoles costs $9.99 and definitely wouldn't be where Call of Duty goes, as the game is more likely locked behind the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier, which is priced at $16.99. On PC, the standard edition is priced at $11, while the Ultimate is $14.99.

A few months ago, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer said price increases for Xbox Game Pass were “inevitable” and if another were to happen, the addition of Call of Duty seems as appropriate a time as any for that to happen.
