State of Decay 3 reappears during the Xbox Games Showcase

Undead Labs revealed a new cinematic trailer after four years in oblivion without giving a specific release date

State of Decay 3, announced in 2020, seemed to be forgotten due to the lack of new updates on its development. However, four years later, Undead Labs presented another cinematic trailer of the game during the Xbox Games Showcase broadcast.

In case you don't know it, State of Decay is a third-person survival horror video game series with multiplayer features born in 2013 by Undead Labs. The game cycle is centered around finding and fortifying strongholds, exploring the world to rescue survivors and collect various resources such as food and equipment and defend the base against zombie attack.

For the development of this installment, Undead Labs has been collaborating with Obsidian Entertainment on the shared world feature, which allows for a more flexible online cooperative experience, so this will become one of the main focuses of the game to offer a Truly open cooperative multiplayer world.

“It's always been important to us that State of Decay is a kind of survival experience for each person,” says studio and product director Philip Holt in Xbox Wire. “This is not a hero's journey as some kind of literary structure. Instead, the world of State of Decay is the story of environmental transformation, revealing the things that are already inherently valuable in our survivors.”

State of Decay 3 marks the return of the franchise. However, it is known that it will come to Xbox Series X|S, PC and Game Pass, but there is still no established release date.
