Rocksteady co-founders sign deal with Xbox for new game

Report ensures that Microsoft is financing the Triple A project that will reach Xbox and PC consoles

After the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King in mid-2023, Microsoft has not only sought to enhance its catalog of games on Xbox and PC with the acquired studios, but has also created new ones such as Elsewhere Entertainment, but has also partnered with others to bring new experiences such as OD with Kojima Productions, the next Toys For Bob game after becoming an independent studio.

Now, it seems that this Microsoft Gaming strategy of creating new alliances continues, since a recent report ensures that together with Hundred Star, a studio created by the co-founders of Rocksteady, Jamie Walker and Sefton Hill, they are working on a new Triple A project.

That according to eXputer, which claims that London-based Hundred Star Games is working on a triple-A single-player action-adventure title powered by Unreal Engine 5. While not much more information is known about the game, the report adds that Xbox Game Studios is financing the project.

It is important to mention that this is a report. Neither Microsoft nor the studio have made an official statement regarding this supposed partnership. The team recommends taking this information with caution.

What to expect from Hundred Star and its next game for Xbox?

While the studio has yet to be officially announced, it emerged in January that Hill and Walker were listed as directors of the company on the business information website Endole.

Hundred Star also has a listing on the website of Great Place to Work which says: “Hundred Star Games is a new video games company based in East London. “Our ethos is to create a small team of just 100 industry veterans and emerging talent, who are committed to creating cutting-edge gaming experiences that inspire and captivate players around the world.”

“With innovation at our core, we are dedicated to pushing boundaries, embracing diversity, and fostering a vibrant gaming community. Our empowering company culture is unique in the industry and encourages leadership at all levels, accountability, team support, vulnerability and connection.”

Rocksteady Studios was founded in 2004 by Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker, and they developed games like Urban Chaos. In 2010, Time Warner (now Warner Bros. Discovery) acquired the company to later become one of the most renowned developers thanks to the Batman Arkham trilogy from 2009 to 2015.

In late 2022, the co-founders left the studio during the development of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. After the complicated launch of the game, Warner declared it a commercial failure.
