Life By You, The Sims' rival life simulator, is canceled

After the cancellation, the studio behind its development was closed as it did not meet the expectations of Paradox Interactive or the community.

A while ago, Paradox Interactive had announced its life simulation proposal to Electronic Arts' The Sims with its title called Life By You. However, the publisher has announced the cancellation of the game after postponing its Early Access that was scheduled to arrive on June 4.

The game that had been previously announced planned to release this year. Its development postponed its release date to June 4, but finally the studio decided to reveal that the title will not be released.

“Unfortunately, we have decided to cancel the launch of our long-awaited life simulator Life by You. “This was a very difficult decision to make and a clear failure on Paradox’s part to meet our and the community’s expectations.” Mattias Lilja, Deputy CEO of Paradox Interactive announced in a official statement.

According to Lilja, Life By you had incredible potential, but ultimately the game did not meet the team's expectations. A situation that increased with the delay of the game, to the point that they were not satisfied with anything they had developed or proposed.

Lilja explained that they are going to exhaustively evaluate the situations that generated this result in the final project so that they are not repeated in the future. And she deeply apologizes to the community for not having lived up to it.

Hours after announcing the cancellation, the Swedish distributor announced the closure of Paradox Tectonic, the studio in charge of developing Life By You. It will close completely and 24 employees will be affected by the closure.

Life By You is not Paradox Interactive's first setback

Paradox Interactive is having a bad streak, since the poor reception of Cities Skylines 2 the distributor is having quite a few mistakes regarding its releases.

At the moment, Paradox has not announced whether those involved in the project will be delegates of the company to reduce losses. But it wouldn't be surprising to see something like this happen considering how the industry is acting.
