The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Félix Plasencia, held a meeting on Tuesday with his counterpart from the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, Edite Ten Jua, to strengthen ties of cooperation and friendship.

According to the press release, the bilateral meeting, held within the framework of the meeting to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the I Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), has made it possible to review and strengthen the existing alliance between both countries.
Diplomatic relations between Venezuela and São Tomé and Príncipe were formalized with the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries in August 2006, after the first official visit of a delegation from the South American nation to the African country.
The Foreign Minister, during his stay in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, to participate in the meeting of the member countries of the NAM, also met with his counterpart from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud, with whom he discussed the "defense of the world oil markets and the stability of our regions »
He also held a meeting with Osman Mohammed Saleh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Eritrea, with whom he discussed matters concerning the Group of Friends in Defense of the United Nations Charter.
