AN consolidates relations with the Inter-Parliamentary Union

This Sunday a delegation of deputies from the National Assembly (AN) held a working meeting, in Geneva, Switzerland, with the president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), His Excellency Mr. Duarte Pacheco and his secretary general, His Excellency Mr. Martín Chungong, in order to to strengthen relations in the parliamentary sphere.

The information was provided by the President of Parliament, Jorge Rodríguez, in his account on the social network Twitter, at the same time that he announced that the AN made official an invitation to the IPU to the country, so that “it knows the truth about Venezuela beyond media agendas and cunning attacks ”.

“We have extended an invitation for a delegation from the Executive Committee of the IPU to visit our country and learn the truth about Venezuela beyond media agendas and devious attacks, and learn about the work in favor of Peace and reconciliation that the new NA has undertaken. ”Rodríguez wrote.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) is the only organization that represents the legislative branch of government on a global scale, with the aim of fostering cooperation.

Currently, the IPU comprises 179 national member parliaments and 13 regional parliamentary bodies, according to digital media.

On several occasions, this instance has expressed its willingness to support the dialogue process between the Bolivarian Government and the opposition.
