AN approves solidarity agreement with the Colombian people

The National Assembly (AN) this Tuesday unanimously approved the Solidarity Agreement Project with the Colombian people due to the aggressions of the Government of Iván Duque, during the current mobilizations.

In the ordinary session that took place in the Federal Legislative Palace, presided over by the vice president of the National Assembly, Iris Varela, the parliamentarians of both benches rejected the acts of violence caused by the Colombian security forces.

Varela stressed that the Duque government has tried to export violence and cause harm to the Venezuelan people. "They have displaced the Colombian peasants who dedicate themselves to cultivating the land, and in a very humble way to produce with the sweat of their brow the sustenance for their family and their communities."

He denounced the agents of the Colombian police and the Mobile Anti-Riot Squad (Esmad) for the destruction, with the aim of reducing the strength of the popular demonstration.

For his part, the deputy Freddy Bernal, made a presentation of the betrayals, murders and poverty that the Colombian people live before a government incapable of protecting and guaranteeing a quality of life for its citizens.

“ECLAC, in its latest report, indicated that Colombia has 34.1% poverty. 21 million Colombians are in poverty, but also 4.3% of the critical poverty that represents 7 million ”, he specified.

At the same time, Bernal stated that the Government of the New Granada nation surrendered its sovereignty and installed seven United States military bases. "Colombia made an agreement with NATO and puts its laws below the US mandate."

He recalled that the US Federal Anti-Narcotics Office highlighted that after Plan Colombia the hectares of coca leaf cultivation increased from 170 to 211. "It produces 951 metric tons of cocaine, 76% of the narcotic on planet earth, according to information from the US federal agency."

Colombia has 6 decades of violence

In his speech, Bernal pointed to the six decades of violence since the assassination of the leader Eliécer Gaitán. "From the year 85 to the present there are a total of 9 million victims among the dead, disappeared and displaced."

He emphasized that in 2021 there were a total of 3 displaced families in the Departments Antioquia, Chocó, Valle del Cauca and Norte de Santander, among which 31 massacres were committed with a total of 116 leaders killed. "In Colombia, after the peace agreement in Havana, 250 combatants have been killed."

Given the above, the Deputy affirmed that the New Granada nation is a failed state and that it broke the social political order and wondered “what is said by Luis Almagro of the OAS and Michelle Bachelet, of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations and the international community ”. / VTV
