During the 25th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum under the theme A New World, New Opportunities, Venezuela presents its experiences on payment systems through digital means that have been applied in the country in the context of the economic recovery implemented by President Nicolas Maduro.
In his speech, the president of the Central Bank of Venezuela, Calixto José Ortega Sánchez, spoke in favor of the acceptance of the Russian MIR payment system, for which he urged to speed up the processes so that the modality reaches the Bolivarian nation in a timely manner. .
"We can no longer delay it, otherwise the Western monopoly wins, which can be used as a weapon when the time comes," said the Venezuelan official.
"We need a system that connects all countries to compensate for the needs of citizens," he also stressed that "the use of Russian MIR cards in our countries cannot be delayed any longer."
In the meeting from Saint Petersburg, Ortega also raised the message about the strategies applied by the Government of Venezuela in the face of the coercive and unilateral measures imposed by the United States.
At the International Economic Forum, plenary sessions, round tables, exhibitions, teleconferences and presentations will take place from Wednesday, June 15.
The Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, heads the Venezuelan delegation at the most important annual meeting in Russia, where a meeting is planned with the Foreign Minister of the Eurasian country, Sergei Lavrov, in which they will address issues of cooperation and economic sovereignty as part of strategic alliances.
Another of the officials that makes up the delegation of the Bolivarian nation in Russia is the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Faría.
