Sanctioned in Second Discussion Law for the use of Gender Language

The deputies of the Federal Legislative Palace, in the ordinary session of this Thursday, unanimously approved and in the second discussion of the Bill for the Promotion and Use of Language with a Gender Approach.

During her speech, the president of the Permanent Commission on Families, Freedom of Religion and Cults, Deputy Asia Villegas Poljak, ratified that this legal instrument refers to the use of non-sexist language and the visibility of women as subjects of law, in accordance with the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (CRBV), where gender language is used effectively.

He emphasized that this law raises the recognition of titles in masculine and feminine, as well as in the media, in judicial processes and other spaces.

Through this Law it is sought to contribute to making women visible in the written and oral communication in the Spanish language, and to avoid the use of the masculine to generalize in different areas such as the educational system, all academic titles must use the language with a focus gender, as of the date of publication in the Official Gazette of said regulations.

The President of Parliament, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez declared this bill to be sanctioned and ordered its referral to the National Executive for enactment.
