Arreaza: The US has not found out that Cuba does NOT belong to the OAS

The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Jorge Arreaza indicated that the representative of the United States to the Organization of American States (OAS) has not learned that Cuba does not belong to this international organization by demanding responsibilities before the so-called Democratic Charter.

Through his official account of the social network Twitter, the Minister for Foreign Affairs wrote: «For a moment I thought it was a montage, a #FakeNews. But no, it is true: the US representative in the OAS has not found out that Cuba does NOT belong to the OAS since 1962 and demands that Cuba comply with the Democratic Charter, which is only applicable in the member states.

It should be noted that Cuba turned 59 years outside the Organization of American States (OAS), which excluded the island from the inter-American system through a resolution of January 31, 1962, where it was accused of approaching the Sino-Soviet bloc and " turn your back on the Pan-American system ”.

The OAS annulled the 1962 resolution on June 3, 2009 and issued a note stating that the island's participation in the inter-American system will be the result of a dialogue process "initiated at the request of the Government of Cuba." However, Cuba has repeatedly stated that it has no interest in returning to that continental organization.
