The president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, reported the planning on Colombian soil of more actions and aggressions against the stability of Venezuela, by the Venezuelan extreme right, the government of Iván Duque and the United States.
Through several tweets, Rodríguez revealed the agenda for a series of meetings between Julio Borges, Leopoldo López, Carlos Vecchio and Manuel Rosales, at the home of James Story, the United States Foreign Ambassador to Venezuela, located at the United States Embassy in Bogotá , Colombia.
Also, according to the documentation published by Rodríguez, they have scheduled meetings with Washington, specifically with the White House Security Council, the Office of Western Hemisphere Affairs of the State Department, the Treasury Department, and the United States Agency. for International Development (USAID), to address, among other issues, the strategy of building a civic-political movement, the conditions in Venezuela and the role of the international community.
Among the topics to be discussed today, Monday, February 22, can be highlighted: Can the opposition unify in the fight for electoral conditions? How to build a movement of civic-political pressure to be able to negotiate a transition from a point of strength? How to expand the democratic coalition? Who are we missing and how do we get to them? What is the role of each sector? What are the incentives for a comprehensive and successful negotiation (carrot and stick)?
In the documents, the “interest” of the Office of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Affairs of the Department of State (DRL) in empowering labor movements and unions, teachers, health workers, nurses, and student movements can be seen.
It also refers to the elections and "how the international community can support the fight for electoral conditions."
