Jorge Rodríguez: Communal democracy is the future of Venezuela

The Organic Law of Social Comptrollership was declared sanctioned and sent to the Executive for its promulgation

The National Assembly (AN) of Venezuela approved by a qualified majority the draft reform of the Organic Law of Social Comptrollership, a legal norm that will allow "deepening in communal democracy."

So he asserted president of parliament, Deputy Jorge Rodríguez, in the ordinary session this Thursday, in which he congratulated the community members, as well as the representatives of the social movements who acquired an instrument "to deepen communal democracy, which is the democracy of the future from Venezuela".

In this sense, the Organic Law of Social Comptrollership was declared sanctioned and sent to the National Executive for the purposes of its promulgation.

After having discussed the articles and final provisions of the law, Rodríguez stressed that the approval of the legal instrument seeks to fulfill the commitment made with the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, in the need to adapt the laws of popular power "to the new times of this Venezuela that points to the future."

In this regard, the head of the AN commented that there are those who are "very afraid" of these forms of human relations because "it is a true democracy, not based on manipulation, nor on the powerful who decide who holds office or not in some of the countries of our planet”.

On the contrary, he exalted that Venezuelan democracy is based on work, where what is considered by the community as its líder or its representative, then it actively participates and becomes the spokesperson for that community.

"We are obliged to comply with this commitment to reform or carry out all the laws of People's Power to which we committed ourselves in a meeting held with the constitutional president of the Republic (Nicolás Maduro)," Rodríguez said.

Anniversary of the Battle of Pichincha

Also in this Thursday's session, the plenary assembly unanimously approved the draft Agreement in Commemoration of the 201st anniversary of the Victory of the Battle of Pichincha.

In this regard, Deputy Frang Morales explained that the epic occurred in the context of the South American War of Independence, between the independence Army, commanded by the Venezuelan hero Antonio José de Sucre; and the royalist Army, led by Field Marshal Melchor Aymerich.

“Those men and women wrote their names in gold letters in the history of our continent. We are talking about them today and we value and exalt their patriotism, dedication, courage, bravery, detachment and sacrifice”, highlighted the deputy.
