Since last April 30 we have beatified Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros, who became the Holy Blessed of the ecclesiastical and non-ecclesiastical Venezuelan people and far beyond our borders, when such an important decision was made by Pope Francis ( Jorge Mario Bergoglio), who responded as the highest authority of the Vatican and the world Catholic Church by fully responding to the request of the Venezuelan Catholic Church, which is headed by the priest Baltazar Porras, a request that was reinforced by our President Nicolas Maduro Moros, in the opportunity to visit the Vatican and give him a statuette of the doctor that characterizes his image and is found in all the scenes of our country.
Doing a bit of history we will point out that on the opportunity of the 100th anniversary of the death of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros, we published a report of a page and a half in our monthly Actualidad Educativa (we have been editing it since December 1976) in which we highlight part of his life in Isnotú, Trujillo State, starting with his birth on October 26, 1864 and his parents were Benigno Hernández and Josefa Antonia Cisneros de Hernández. In that text we emphasize that after the death of today Blessed Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros, as a result of the car crash that occurred on June 26, 1919 at the Amadores corner in Caracas, it was not until 1949 that the tomb was found. Doctor and Pharmacist Víctor Manuel Ovalles, who had known Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros while they were alive, because they would have studied at the Central University of Venezuela. At that time, Dr. Ovalles was with his grandchildren, Caupolicán and Lautaro Ovalles, both now deceased and they were men of Humanities and Human Sciences. We had the opportunity to meet the Ovalles brothers and I was able to learn about the thousands of books and documents left by their grandfather, who was also one of the great Pharmacists of Venezuela.
In their rejoicing, the Venezuelan people feel pleased and happy about the Holy Blessed Dr. José Gregorio Hernández Cisneros and we consider and thank Pope Francis, the Apostolic Nuncio Aldo Giordano, the National High Clergy and President Nicolas Maduro for this great achievement obtained.
