Traditional games such as whirligig, metras or marbles, cap and rubber ball were part of the activity carried out in the Arias parish, Belén sector of the Libertador municipality (Mérida), within the framework of the cultural and religious activities of the Holy Week 2022.
Antonio Hernández, sports promoter, stressed that the recreational activity seeks to encourage children to practice traditional games on holy days, for example the Trojan game and the whirligig competition.
Ramces Moreno, sports promoter of the Libertador municipality mayor's office, reported that the activity will also take place in the Jacinto Plaza parish, El Chama sector.
Likewise, in the Zea municipality of the Andean entity, the XXIII edition of the spinning top competition will take place.
Ramiro Zambrano, a member of the organizing team, explained that the competition will have a two-stage route, three mountain prizes, two flying goals and one against the clock.
The call is at 10 in the morning in the vicinity of the municipal market, the arrival will be in the Pata de Gallina sector, in Zea.
Other religious cultural activities
For its part, the Mérida State Government organized the tour of the route of the 7 temples, this Thursday, April 14, starting at 3:00 pm. The meeting point will be in front of the San Juan Bautista de Milla church.
The route will take place through the churches of San Juan Bautista de Milla, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Sacred Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Bethlehem, Our Lady of the Mirror, Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
The Holy Eucharist of Jesus of Nazareth will take place at 3:00 pm in the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in the Libertador municipality (Mérida), and then tour the main streets and avenues of the city.
This celebration takes place in the municipalities of Tovar, Andrés Bello (La Azulita), Campo Elías (Ejido) among others, in addition to the different parishes of the Andean entity.
